ROMANIAN ARTWORKS

Gheorghe Miron’s work explores the other side of daily events with a frank portrayal of the private goings on of civilian lives. The subjects in which many of his paintings revolve around deal with the naked underbelly of society and consciousness. Themes are prevalent in his work and vary from the mystic to taboo love. Among other paintings are classic still lifes that call the eye’s attention to the timeless beauty oil paintings can offer.
Several of Miron’s paintings are ruled by feminine figures often partially nude that invite the viewer into a world known only to a few, where subjects partake in daily activities in the most natural way, capturing the most basic of human emotions. The relations between the figures are often unknowingly sensual, yet practical.
Other works are dominated by the image of playing cards, often thought to represent fate. His figure’s interactions with cards and dice are that of the controlling sort and lead the viewer to wonder what special power the painting might hold.
Still more of Miron’s paintings delight the viewer’s eyes with the vibrant colors of landscapes. Trees, leaves, and grass are highlighted with the artist’s perfect use of light and shadow.
Gheorghe Miron’s oil paintings are varied in subject and hue, yet tend to show the artists expertise in subject within each painting. He has a skill that many artists strive for with his realism approach and shows his subjects in their most natural form.
